André Klein
1903

The young confectioner André Klein sets off from Meiringen in the Bernese Oberland with the intention of emigrating to America.

He makes a stopover in Basel where he becomes a partner in a confectionery business.

1904

He takes over the business in Breisacherstrasse in Basel.

From today’s perspective, this step laid the foundation for Läckerli Huus. The Basler Läckerli Original have been an integral part of the range from the very beginning.

1906

The rapidly expanding company is soon in need of more space and moves into the former cotton-spinning works Sarasin&Heusler in Münchenstein, just outside of Basel.

1920

Launch of the first filled herbal cough candy in Switzerland under the brand name Halsfeger.

1920

Fully aware of their advertising impact, André Klein begins very early to package his products in decorative biscuit tins. Tins have continued to be an important type of packaging for Läckerli Huus and play a decisive role in making our specialities the perfect gift. For further details see: Historical biscuit tins

1945

The fire disaster in January 1945, which destroys the entire factory, is mastered by the company thanks to the great efforts of the entire staff. Within a year a new building is erected close to the original location and in which the Läckerli Huus specialities are still produced to this day.

1950

Opening of the first Läckerli Huus store in Basel, Steinenvorstadt 05, as well as the first sales stand at the MUBA public exhibition in Basel in 1954.

1960

Beginning of the mail order business domestically and internationally: the Läckerli Huus specialities are sent to customer’s homes.

1969

Opening of the store in Greifengasse in Basel.

1973

Opening of the store in Gerbergasse 57 / Falknerstrasse 34 in Basel: the original Läckerli Huus.

1988

Opening of the first store outside the Basel region, in Bern.

Takeover of the renowned manufacturer of traditionally-made cream caramels in Gelterkinden.

Introduction of new Läckerli varieties:

  • 2006: Läckerli au citron
  • 2010: Läckerli au cacao
  • 2013: Läckerli création aux pâtes d’amandes und Läckerli aux pommes
2001

Extension of the range of Läckerli Huus specialities by adding Flûtes de Bâle caramel, crispy wafer rolls with a filling made of the popular cream caramels.

2007

Ms. Miriam Blocher becomes sole owner and managing director.

2008

Läckerli Huus takes the major step of entering the Swiss retail trade with the brand Läckerli Huus, with selected Läckerli Huus classics.
"Läckerli Huus goes on TV" – for the first time in its history, Läckerli Huus goes on air with commercials.

2009

Due to the growing number of customers buying cream caramels, Läckerli Huus launches new, refined varieties:
Caramels à la crème Trilogie (in espresso, cacao, classic flavours)
Délices de caramel au chocolat (cream caramels au chocolat "noir" and "lait")
Swiss whisky cream caramels
Tartelettes au caramel

2010

Introduction of new chocolate varieties:
Chocolat au caramel "noir et blanc"
Chocolat au Basler Läckerli "lait"
Tourelles au chocolat

2014

Läckerli Huus is moving to a new site in Frenkendorf (BL). This will replace the production facilities currently based in Münchenstein and Gelterkinden.

2015

The successful launch of the new chocolate specialities marks a further milestone in the history of the Läckerli Huus.

From now on, the old-established Basel company is showing its sweeter side with exclusive truffle and praline creations and winning over all chocolate lovers with a pleasure and taste experience that is in a class of its own.

  • Opening of the World of Indulgence, Frenkendorf BL
  • Start of loose sales of pralines in selected branches
  • Opening of the Gerbergasse café
2017

The Läckerli Huus is constantly adding new and innovative creations to its range of chocolate specialities. The new chocolate website operated by the Läckerli Huus has already captivated many chocolate lovers. That’s why the Läckerli Huus is venturing into television once again. With an unusual short advertising film that presents the diversity and unique character of its carefully handmade chocolate products.

2018

The chocolate success story goes on. Customers can now have a totally individual chocolate greeting from the Läckerli Huus delivered to their nearest and dearest. Simply select the pralines, upload a photo and greetings message, enter the recipient’s address and the greeting will be on its way. The Läckerli Huus will ensure that the exclusive “temptation” arrives in good time.

  • The Webshop, too, has had a bright new makeover. Ordering is now much easier.
  • The attractive SAVEURS customer programme is being launched.
